For those planning on heading to Aspen to enjoy its magnificent ski slopes, they must now undergo COVID-19 testing and other requirements.
Aspen is among the most famous mountain destinations in the world and offers magnificent ski slopes. Those that enjoy heading to the popular ski destination should be aware that these days, visitors are required to undergo COVID-19 testing to protect the health of both locals and other skiers.
Mandatory Testing For Aspen Skiers
Aspen boasts four ski slopes which offer some of the best powder turns in Colorado. The popular mountain destination also boasts excellent restaurants at virtually every corner of its historic downtown area. Aspen’s understated chic is known to attract thousands of visitors each year, at any time of the year.
However, with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, things have changed. Authorities want to protect the local community as well as visitors as the winter ski season launches. Pitkin County has announced a new requirement for visitors aged ten years and above. Each must have been tested for COVID-19 and have proof of a negative result before heading to the famous resort, as well as a travel affidavit.
Travel Affidavit Required For Visitors To Aspen
How it works is on arrival at Aspen/Pitkin County Airport, visitors are required to complete a “travel affidavit” online. They must also upload proof of a negative COVID-19 test result, administered within 72 hours of arrival. It is also important that visitors are symptom-free for 10 days prior to travel.
Anyone who arrives without having completed a test will need to quarantine for 10 days. Those whose results have not come back will also be obliged to quarantine until they do. Failure to comply with regulations will be deemed a violation of public health order. Fines may be issued up to $5,000.
This particular ruling is specific to Pitkin County. Visitors arriving from other areas of Colorado also face the same requirements. Those spending one or more nights there need the travel affidavit, but not those visiting only for the day. Other exemptions apply to anyone who regularly commutes to Pitkin County for school or work.
