For those who have taken their dog to Spain on vacation, you probably know they are not allowed on the beach in summer or in public swimming pools. While you and the family can splash around in the waves, your poor dog has to stay at home. Meanwhile, the northern hemisphere has just gone through one of the hottest summers ever. It turns out one clever dog-loving couple has opened a water park for dogs (and their humans) in Alicante, Spain, dubbed Worldog: Aquapark Canino.

A young couple living in the Alicante Province of Spain had a dream of opening a water park for dogs. Finally, their dream has come true, and Worldog: Aquapark Canino is now open for dogs and their humans.

The owners are Jessica Diaz and Pablo Canovas, both 27, who came up with the idea because they couldn’t take their Yorkshire Terrier to any public pool. Now, they have given the opportunity for many dogs to swim, play and socialize with their friends.

While most towns have a dog park where the family pooch can go off-leash and have fun with their friends, this water park takes things to a whole new level. The water park is located at La Marina Village, halfway between Guardamar del Segura and Santa Pola in Spain’s Alicante Province.

Now the whole family can splash around to their hearts’ content and keep cool in the hot summer months.

Meanwhile, this is the first water park of its kind in southern Alicante Province, but hopefully, it will start a trend with dog water parks opening all along Spain’s coasts.

The park has a dedicated dog pool, measuring 700 sq m (2,300 sq ft) and took some 300,000 liters (80,000 gallons) of salt water to fill. Meanwhile, the pool is a safe 65 cm (25 in) deep with a sloping bottom to make it easy for dogs to get in and out.

Besides the large pool for the pups, the water park features an agility course with tunnel and hoop jumping, obstacle courses and a catwalk. Here, the dogs can keep fit and work off their excess energy by having the time of their lives.

Meanwhile, their humans are also provided for with an onsite snack bar. Here, humans and dogs alike can choose from a varied menu of healthy food, cooked with care and love. Moreover, the water park has a dog store offering a good variety of food, toys, beds and clothing, all of which are of top quality.

After their fun time in the pool, the pooches can head to a dog grooming salon which is also onsite.

Entrance to Worldog: Aquapark Canino costs €5 ($5.36) per human and €10 ($10.73) per day for each dog. The ticket price for dogs goes down after 4 pm to €5 ($5.36) per pooch. Tickets can be booked online at worldog.com.es.

If you are planning on taking Fido on vacation in Spain this fall or next summer, make sure you head to the Alicante Province for the whole family to splash out and have fun.
